Time to do Tokyo.

As per usual, I woke up this morning in my futon.
Only this time, I knew I wasn't going to be falling asleep in the same place. And it made me a bit sad.
I can't believe I have been staying at my host home for two months now!
My room became MY ROOM. My futon became MY FUTON. But not anymore.
I won't be coming back home today. I am heading off to Tokyo.

One last amazing breakfast.
What?! You mean, I don't have a choice between yoshoku or washoku for breakfast tomorrow?
You mean...I won't wake up to an "Ohayou gozaimasu!" from my mom?

Sad face. For my last breakfast, my mom made the Minamizono Eggwich!
I'll try to recreate it at home, but it is just something else, with her homemade bread and fluffy clouds of egg tucked inside.

Let's not forget my breakfast dessert! Yogurt with pineapple and banana slices, drizzled with blueberry sauce, all sitting on top of a little mound of cornflakes. Does that not make you smile?

Bye home! I hope to be back soon!

Again, my mom has been the greatest host mom I could ever ask for. I will definitely miss her.
She immediately treated me as her own daughter, calling me "みっちゃん" as my real mom does at home. I really can't thank her enough.
But I can say that we are both frequent facebook patrons, so contact will definitely be YOKU.

Bye family! Thank you, thank you, どうも ありがとうございます!!!
Haruki and Kaho: Don't get too crazy without me!

Alrighty. Now time for some action.
Broido: It's go time.

Lucas' dad works in Tokyo, so he has an apartment that we will be staying in for the next few days.
So off to Tokyo we went for some post PII fun!

Since the Shinkansen from Kanazawa to Tokyo has yet to be completed, we had to transfer at Maibara. But the transfer is freaking QUICK. and what's worse, my luggage was freaking HEAVY.
 Ippai. Omosugiru. Too much.

Which meant that Broido had the unfortunate burden of carrying two MASSIVE suitcases while we ran up and down the stairs to catch the Shinkansen.
Then I kind of left him in the dust and ran onto the train to get us a spot while he was running and rolling both of our suitcases next to the train as it started beeping, warning everyone that it was about to shut the doors and speed off!
True Life: Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Luckily, in true Superman status, he chucked our luggage in and jumped onto the train, just in time for our departure. Whoa. Close call.

Broido: post-luggage/ crazy train transfer workout.
Nothing a lil' swig of Aquarius can't cure.

Because there was a train crash on one of the tracks before we left Kanazawa, we had to go to the ticket counter to exchange tickets and figure out a new plan.
So, while we were figuring the ticket situation out, my mom stretched her generosity to the last second, running to the conbini to buy me this bento!
Fried rice with octopus, along with some nimono and tsukudani.
The final gift from my host mom.

To bask in our lack of homework and quiz glory, we chilled with a couple episodes of "Suits" before arriving in Tokyo!

And man, it was HOT when we arrived.
Dragging all of my nimotsu around, then walking through Shibuya in 90 degree weather to get to his apartment...I think I just lost a gallon of sweat.

Look how far down the subway goes! It's like a never ending tunnel...

Luckily, the apartment is a very close 10 min walk from the Shibuya Station (with the Hachiko Dog!), so I didn't have to wait long to get some Pocari Sweat into my system.
The apartment is also incredibly nice, so my luck was running on a high!

Once we cooled off a bit and let the AC give us the suzushii kimochi, we went back outside to explore!
Since we were centrally located in Shibuya, we started off walking about there, slowly working our way over towards Harajuku.

During our Tokyo wanderings, we popped into a couple of super swag stores, including this sunglasses stores, outfitted with sleak guitars, a drum set, and vintage posters.

It also helped to have some pretty sweet (and some crazy) lenses.

PEACE.

Takeshita Street: the central hub of Japanese cray fanatical fashion trends.

We crossed over the street towards Yoyogi Park, just aimlessly wandering.

I gotta admit. The peace sign is becoming quite natural now. It was strange to do two months ago, but now...I don't know if I'll be able to go back to the days of peace-less shya shin.

While walking, we decided that we wanted to find a rooftop to sit on. So we did.

A casual four stories high, we watched the sunset, consisting of this weird bottle-nose dolphin shaped cloud. Do you see it?! It's pretty sweet.

After, we walked back to Shibuya to meet Lucas's cousin and her boyfriend, both from Paris. We had dinner with them on the roof top of the Tokyu department store building, so now we have a tally of 2 roof tops so far for the night.

There were mainly groups of young Japanese people hanging out on the roof, so the atmosphere was very lively and fun.
However, my mind was starting to get a bit boggled because Broido was speaking in French to his cousin and her boyfriend, but then he was talking to me in English, and then Broido and I were occasionally talking to the waiters in Japanese, so there was just a whole bunch of language overlap!
I had no idea what they were talking about, but then again...what's new.

After dinner, which included yakisoba and fried mochi, we continued to galavant around Tokyo until we spotted another building that was just calling us to climb!

This time, it was 9 stories high. And the view was awesome.

The weather at night is actually pleasant, compared to the excessive mushi-atsui temperatures during the day. So, it was nice to just sit outside and look down at the Tokyo night life!

Straight down.
Our count for the night: 3 rooftops. Not bad.

Once we had our fill of rooftop chillin, we took a lil stop at a dance club before heading back to the apartment. Life without homework is pretty darn good.

Next up: FUJI SAN.
